I want to learn a bit more about this.
I tried a search, but I found only macro photography.

I'm hoping to find a lot of examples of this kind of fashion photography using ring flashes and/or ring flash adapters.
Also, what kind of lenses would be good for headshots using these kind of lighting units?

Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing.... I'm thinking about just buying a cheap ebay one to see if I like the results and go from there :)

Same
I learned something from some research that I'll pass on to you
Don't get the "O Ring flash adapter" from ebay
Get the "Coco ring flash adapter"
The design is better, cost maybe $10 more

Bump, anyone?

Why do you want to use a ring flash for fashion photography? What effect(s) do you hope to achieve using one?

A ring flash by design is going to produce very even, featureless ('flat') light around the lens axis. I've never tried using one for shooting people, but I could see where it might be useful as a fill light, IF you used in a bracket, but as a main/key/only light? It would NOT be my first (or second, third, or fourth) choice.

I saw a few ringflashes in use during fashion week. They can be a bit brutal to a person looking at the camera when used as the main light source, they can be horribly flat and the catchlights aren't to everyone's taste - you may have to fix them in post. I have one, but don't like it for people. It's better in a balanced studio setting, as tirediron says. I think they are a bit dated, no longer au courant.

here is the behind the scene video show we using ring flash for fashion photography assignment.

Actually you can find more videos about ringflash in youtube.

Unless you are going to do shots of eye make-up where the make-up is 98% of the image, I just don't get it. Did you just get a ringflash and want to use it any way you can?

No, I'm currently taking some photography classes
and at the school the cosmotology program professor asked me to shoot their students work.
Generally, it would be hair and make up.
I've been told before a ring flash might be prime for this.
I decided to post here and see what this photography community thought.

One of my friends does when they do upclose shots of patterns/stitching.

I would want it for head shots, I enjoy the catch lights :)
