Applying a watermark to a photo

Hi,

I was messing around in photoshop last night creating a watermark for myself, however I've stumbled upon a problem. I can't figure out how to apply the watermark to the photos I want to.

Is it as simple as applying the watermark to a new layer with my photo?

Any help would be great, back to screwing around with it, or shovelling the driveway...AGAIN! (go away winter!)
