Hi, everyone.

Has anyone tried one of these hand strap with their camera, are they any good for securing the camera to your hand? If you hand go of the camera completely, will they fall off?

Could you please better define "these hand straps"? Kind of tough to answer your question without reference.

Thanks.

Kind of what I thought. I had one for 8 minutes. For the first 6 minutes it was the coolest thing ever. Then for the next 2 minutes I realized how impractical it was, and I immediately went back to the neck strap. To answer your question about security it does hold fairly securely, but doesn't allow for easy transition from portrait to landsacpe, and you have to physically set the camera down if you need both hands for something. Kind of a pain in the ass.

can't you have both the hand strap and the neck strap attached to the camera at the same time?

I'm sure you can. But why? Seems redundant. For me the hand strap was so inconvenient and uncomfortable it wast worth trying to mess around with both. Of course, your mileage may vary. Like everything else, they make it because people buy it. I'm sure for some folks its the perfect tool.

I see, thanks for your advice, I will give them a try. Neck strap just look kinda of nerdy.

Is looking "nerdy" really a concern? I'm more worried about "kinda of" having my equipment securely and efficiently accessible. Have you even thought about quick release "at the hip" straps? Maybe that would be "kinda of" not too nerdy for you.

do you have a link to this "at the hip" strap you're talking about, I actually do want to have a look.

A hand strap seems to be a little clumsy for portrait orientation and would tie one hand up completely. I think a wrist strap is better, because you can hang the camera from your wrist and use your hand a little. I use a Gordy's wrist strap on one of my cameras:

Love my Black Rapid and you look "cool"

I usually just use my neck strap. If I get tired of having it hanging from my neck, I take it off and coil the strap loosely around my hand. Its not tight enough for me to let go, but if it slips from my hand it will provide enough of a delay that I will have plenty of time to secure the camera. The Black Rapid straps are nice also, although depending where you are and what you are shooting with, you may have more of a chance of beating up your lens with it dangling at your side like that.e

For the record, I use a Tamrac neoprene neck strap that is contoured and provides a bit of shock absorption.

wow, Blackrapid looks awesome. Which one should i get RS-7 with brand or RS-sport? They both about the same price tag on eBay here in Australia.
