Are these slides made from frames of the old movie film?

These are of the 1955 movie This Island Earth. I would guess someone made these slides by cutting pieces of the original movie film strip and mounting them? Would that be correct? Also is there a proper name for this type of slide? The mounts themselves measure 2x2 inches. Thanks for any help.

YES...those slide are print snips...an actual 35mm film motion picture "print" had a section clipped out, and the individual frames were cut and put into slide mounts...

How would I best describe these if I were to sell them? I have 5 pages or so of these. Not sure if they are worth much but they might be just because of how old the movie is? Thank you for the replies.

SHOW a pic or two!"

"35mm-SF" written on the slides = 35mm Sound Film or Sound-on-Film

Too bad the color has shifted to red. I sell a lot of slides and movies and it's hard to sell the color-shifted ones. I usually stick with Kodachrome because their color is as permanent as color film gets.

But, classic Sci-Fi fans might still be interested. "This Island Earth" was one of those so-bad-it's-hilalarious type movies. Maybe MST3K fans too since they did a send-up of that movie.

The original was a Technicolor negative. What you have are snips from non-Technicolor prints or dupes of prints which don't have the color fastness of Technicolor.

Sounds like these are not worth much due to the red color and being dupes. Now I know what this means. "35mm-SF" written on the slides = 35mm Sound Film or Sound-on-Film" Appreciate the great information!
