Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Haven't been posting a while now. These are my latest photos taken in a horse Jumping show. It was my first taking this kind of photo and therefore was only a trial and error. Tell me what ya think? Any comment appreciated.

All taken at the following setting

Shutter Speed = 1/800 Aperture = 1/7.1 ISO = 400 Focal Length = 163mm

Thank you for looking.

These are pretty close to the same picture so I'll stick with one.

This is only my opinion so grains of salt are appropriate.

1) I think you should stick with standard formats, 4x5, 4 x 6, particularly here where you've got plenty of room.
2) action and sharpness are good,
3) background is distracting but you did your best with what you have. You could mask out the rider and darken/blur the back but that's another thing.
4) this looks like it's in the shade but a reasonably bright day and all the whites are glowing so they attract the eye a bit. The top of the rail and fence are burnt out so they can't be dimmed at all - a shame because they distract.
5) the objects of interest could use a little area sharpen to make them pop and spice up the local contrast (do searches on those phrases for more info)
6) I think they are a bit loosely cropped, perhaps in an attempt to get the man's head at the thirds. I think a tighter crop will make the picture more intense and trim away some of the excess people, fence, arena. A little vignette to keep the eye on the center wouldn't hoit.

All in all, pretty nicely done, I think.

For a first attempt, they're more than okay, they're very good. As Traveller noted, there is still room for improvement, but they're a good start. The only thing that I will add is that I think would have been even stronger if you had (assuming you were able to) move a little further camera left. so as to get them more on a 3/4 profile.

The only 1 that you caught the right moment is #3, the others are only any good if you are printing and selling on site making a montage

Hmmmm... I think the second series might need a bit more of sharpening.
