I don't think there were many, if any street lights in Muang Khua, Laos and the street that ran down to the river was lit only by the lights through the open doorways and the occasional light of a restaurant. Lots of dogs around but they were very quiet; my guess this was a Darwinian development in a country where everything with meat was a potential meal.

All of these were shot at f 1.7 1/125 iso 3200 with Oly 20 mm on OMD 5

This was as far North as we got. This town is on the Ou River and we had bussed up here specifically to take the ride downriver. I doubt there were more than 30 tourists in the town, most of them there specifically to take a boat down river. This was a popular stopping place on the bus to or from Dien Bien Phu just over the border to the East. Thus travelers could interrupt the long bus ride to journey downstream eventually ending in Luang Prabang. We stayed at the best place in town, hot water and AC if needed, $15/night.
