There are only two times when I'll listen to opera... When Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd do it, or when its that angel of music... the one and oly Florence Foster Jenkins.

Ha ha... I used to have an entire collection of her songs. When I was in a blue mood I'd listen and laugh ever so hard! What's funny (and sad at the same time) is that she, Florence Foster Jenkins, believed to be a true talent. She gave numerous recitals and they were always sold out, for the one and only reason, to laugh.

Actually, the court is still out on her. Some think she was serious whilst others think it was intended as a joke. I veer to the latter - you have to be good to be that bad.

Yes, that's interesting. I admit: it's this post that got me reading about her. But I can imagine that someone as wealthy as she was would get away with being bad. And programs like American Idol show us that there are really people out there that are bad, bad singers but no matter what other people say, they think they are great. I wouldn't be surprised if she would fit in that category.
