What's new

AWESOMEEE. NEW PR!!

Yes it was very HOT. Although I trained hard I underestimated the amount and the severity of the hills. My calfs were shredded afterwards. For me, training was hard because I don't gain weight easily. In fact, I struggle. So I had to limit my cardio workouts so I didn't lose too much weight. I would do some serious Compound lower body workouts. Run a lot. Sprint up hills. etc. especially as the event gets close. Im not a big runner, so I biked 10-15 miles a day after my strength training. TRX or Insanity are good workouts too. You will need upper body strength to get through some of the obstacles as well. Basically, it is an event that tests your self. You will get out of it what you put in. There were some people on that course that had absolutely no business being there. -but that made me smile. They had heart. If you want to kick ass, then train hard. I will be doing a lot more leg exercises next time. -which happens to be Lake Tahoe in July. (yikes) I did it completey solo, I had to bail on my team to attend a wedding later that day. Doing it alone really pushed me harder, if I had a team, that would have slowed me down. I will have a team next time. - It seemed a lot more fun to do it with other people. GOOD LUCK!!

oh, and the Arctic Enema is the worst...

^haha
Its a big container filled with ice. You have to jump in, duck under a board with barbed wire and make it to the other side. -extreme shock to the body.

like reaching for a beer in a garbage can filled with ice water. - it stings bad!

Well the obstacles aren't that tough.

I'm a chick so upper body strength isn't my thing. I'm sure I'm going to struggle through some of the obstacles but that's part of the fun...right...lol

One of the girls I did mine with is a rock climber. We do indoor rock climbing once a week. If you have a place near you, I would suggest doing that. It's fun, and hard work.

To get your upper body strong enough, I would suggest working biceps, triceps, chest. Nothing too sever, but some curls, tricep dips, pushups, bench press if you can. Even if you werent running a race, I'd say you should do that anyways. Helps one stay healthy.

Congrats, now set your eyes on 315. Nothing says clean like 3 45lbs on each side. And now is a good time to learn about eating good carbs :). Again congrads!!

That's awesome. I can make it several miles on my Tread Climber while eating and reading at the same time!

Exactly. If we weren't meant to have a beer while exercising than why do they put cup holders on treadmills?

Rock climbing is awesome. I used to go years ago to an indoor place. It was a ton of fun and a great workout. Wow, forgot all about that. Thanks for the suggestion!
