B&H Used

Who has ever purchased used from B&H. I was reading about their rating information. I found a lens I want that is rated a 7, which they say, "shows considerable amount of use- more than average wear". I hear that KEH tends to rate their products worse than they actually are and I was wondering if B&H was the same way. If it is too dinged up, it's not worth spending the extra $400.

I do not know the rating system. All that I would add is, how much does appearance mean to you.
I have purchased 3 lenses used. I look for date code, photos of the lens and try to see if the seller has a good rep. POTN has plenty of Canon stuff and that is what I shoot. I saved enough money on 3 lenses and 1 camera to purchase another L lens.
In short...what is your tolerance?

Well, on here you can't see the actual lens. You just see a stock photo. I would like for the glass to be pretty nice. But I also don't want the exterior to look like I have been hiking through the woods either.

I've only purchased from their excellent ratings. Nothing wrong IMO. A rating of 7 may make me hesitate, but they have a good return policy if you're not satisfied.

Well, it's slated to arrive on the 17th.

It's a 70-200 VR that I bought for $1,099. It was rated a 7. I guess we will see.

Btw, the wife is spitting mad.

I got the lens in today. The paint is pretty beat up but has no dings and the glass is perfect. Although now that I have it I don't know if I want to keep it. So much money on one piece.... gah! Buyers regret!

After you shoot with it for awhile and sell it, the remorse you will feel then is far greater than what you are feeling now. The 70-200 is incredible. Give it some time and it will become your best friend. It's sooooo worth it.

Thanks you two. I am going to use it a couple of days. If I still feel regretful I am going with the 85 1.8 and use the rest for new carpet in the house lol. I want to focus in on doing portraits.
