B&W conversion settings

I do not do much if any b&W conversions in Photoshop. I understand how to convert and know of the varying ways to do this although I was wondering if anyone could let me in on their settings when converting to B&W. I find my b&Ws do not pop and Im having trouble findingt he right combination. I typically use the channel mixer set to mnochrome. If anyone uses this way what are your RGB setting? Any other advice would be appreciated as well.
