Looks a little grainy. I love the idea, maybe a closer crop and possibly some more contrast? Just some suggestions

I like the first one you did, partially in color. I don't like the crop at all, sorry to the poster who cropped. The full shot tells a story ... I think without the shore line, it's just a boat.

To a level, I agree with you. But at the same time, the original crop has that distracting plant thing to the right, which to me detracts from the overall effect of the photo. Either crop, the shot is good. But, the original crop, despite what I find to be shortcomings, remains the better of the two. Good shot.

You might want to just check that the horizon is level. It looks a little high/low left to right.
