Baby Orioles in the rain

Saw our first baby Orioles this morning, in the rain.... Noticed high adult activity at the jelly bowls, then the parents would fly over to the trees close by, then back to the jelly.... It was hard to see the little guys in all the foliage, but once I did, I was able to poke thru and get some shots!
Turning these little ones in the grape jelly lovers!
With a side of "flies" ....

As in Welch's Grape Jelly....I have to fill these two feeders every 24 hours....we have lots of orioles

Fabulous photos!

This is a sight to behold - I'm totally jealous. We regularly have them at our feeder (with nectar and jelly), but they don't nest nearby. I don’t think our backyard tree is tall enough!

They nest in a huge, huge sycamore tree in the neighbors yard....last year I found the nest and photographed them building and going in and out, feeding the nestlings, but never saw the babies exit the nest....this mornings sighting of the fledged kiddos, was pretty darn exciting....just lucky to catch them feeding the jelly and bugs....and the littles ones have an interesting "hey mom/dad, IM STARVING HERE!" call...I should've done a video clip, but I'm always more interested in taking photos than taking videos.....I'm sure I'm in the minority, but it's the photos that I'm after!

That makes sense - I've read they nest in the highest trees they can find. Makes them so challenging to shoot!

These pictures show a lot of intuition towards these birds, following them by simple observation. And no, I don't need a video, each shot is lovely and well worth your time. Applause!

Rainy days probably do help — fewer bugs means they're basically living off your feeders instead of foraging. Way easier to spot them when they're all in one spot.
