Spring is finally here, the first of the Black Eyed Susans are poking their heads up in the woods, the eyes haven't turned black yet.

I stand corrected. According to the Alabama Plant Atlas they are in fact Coreopsis lanceolata Linnaeus, commonly referred to as Lance Leaf Tickseed or Long Stalk Tickseed.
