What's new

Back button and other stuff

I would recommend maybe having the Fn + Command dial be set to changing the Active D-Lighting, especially if shooting in JPEG-only.

I'll give it a try thanks.

I agree with overread that you are taking the correct approach.

Listening to advice/common practices, trying them and seeing what works for you.

Remember, RULE is a four letter word. Let's not use profanity and keep an open mind.

OMG, I did something I can't figure out how to undo. I'm now getting latitude and longitude info covering 75% of my screen on playback. If I zoom it goes away but every time I hit the playback button it's there by default.

Never mind, I forgot how to set the display with the arrows. All under control until I forget again.

Quickly! Blame it on the last post...........It must be their suggestion that caused the issue...........Quickly!...Before someone notices!...........Well done.
Carry on.

That was a close one!:345:

Yesterday, went for my 3:00 walk with the function button set active dlighting and took a bunch of pictures with my finger on the Fn button and off to compare.

I forgot to turn the dial. Sigh, it's a brand new day, let's see what it brings. I really want to see and understand the D-lighting function so this was a good choice, thanks for suggesting it.

Since this thread seems to be about other stuff as well, I'll just keep piling on.

I've read some negativity about HDR and I haven't even tried it yet. I think HDR and D-Lighting will be the subject of the day. I'll be out walking with my camera around 10:00 or 45 minutes from now and I'll report back.

I like hdr in small doses. For some scenes it can really add to the photo. In other cases, it’s a distraction. It’s used too much to hide otherwise boring photos.

It would be great if I could sort my photos by settings. I took some shots with the various Active D-Lighting settings but it's difficult to do the comparison.

I use a User Setting on my function wheel to go to between BBF and half-click, but mostly use BBF. Not sure if your D5600 has something like user settings...

A few of you said some confusing things. BBF and photo quality do not relate. Either your focal points work, or they don't. But the fact of how you get your camera to auto focus has no influence. Either way, keep shooting and have fun.

SNIP>> BBF and photo quality do not relate. Either your focal points work, or they don't. But the fact of how you get your camera to auto focus has no influence.

Your statement is in direct contradiction to the opinions expressed in soooo many articles and videos touting BBF as the 'best thing since autofocus.' Lol, half-joking...
