Backyard surprise ...

So I am standing on my back deck having a smoke and a beer ... out of the corner of my eye I see two large dark birds fly onto the old Oak tree in the back park ... hmmm, was that a distinctive red on the back ... yup, two Pileated Woodpeckers (one stayed). I ran inside (with a smoke hanging out of my mouth), grabbed my camera and ...

Primary reason we bought this house instantly ... close proximity to parkland.
Last time I saw one here was in 2015, only got one sad image.

Very cool. Great shots. I get tons of Downy's in my backyard but never a Pileated. I don't think I have them in my area.
