Basic Sony Lens

Hi everyone! I have a Sony A55 which I purchased in 2010. I still just use the box lens that came with it. What would be your choice for a better lens. The one I have is working fine, but I would like something with a smaller aperature, and something that is super sharp thanks in advance.

A couple of inexpensive suggestions:

Sony 50mm f/1.8
Sony 35mm f/1.8

Not so cheap:
Sony 16-50mm f/2.8

Minolta Maxxum (older models) 50mm 1.7 or 1.4, 28mm 2.8, 35 - 70mm F4, 100 - 200mm F4, 70 - 210mm all take great pictures and very available on ebay the 50mm 1.4 being the only one over $200, the rest being under. 50mm 1.7, 28mm and the 35 - 70mm being under $100 easily.

Definitely get a Minolta 50mm f1.7, great for portraits. I use a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 instead of the 18-70 f3.5 - 5.6. The sigma is extremely sharp but cost me $650.
