Beautiful Tricia

So I had the chance to shoot with my friend Tricia a little while back. We experimented with lighting, and I did some of my first laying down posing. I hope you like them - let me know what you think! C&C appreciated.

Not a bad effort for a first go!

#3 is by far the best because of the clean background - the lighting has also worked really well there. The rest are not too bad from a posing point of view, but the wooden floor and black skirting board kind of kill them. If you're going to spend time on lighting and posing, you may as well spend a little on the background too, it makes all the difference.

Her face is overexposed on all but the B&W.

Image three would be good if you played with the processing a bit and work on bringing down the shadows. Way too much time was spent on her eyes. But sadly that image also lacks overall sharpness.

Agree with Ian, especially about the backgrounds; 1 and 2 would be fairly easy to composite onto new backgrounds and would likely add a great deal to the image. Not sure about the exposure as I'm not on a calibrated monitor right now, but it does look just a tad hot.

The elbow showing through the hair in the last picture looks a little weird.

A general rule that i like to follow when having the subject look away from the camera is to make sure their iris's aren't completely to one side. Try and keep their iris's a little more centered, always have white on both sides, by having them turn their head more the direction they're looking. The way her eyes are in #'s 1, 3, and 4 look very unnatural and is typically an uncomfortable way for the eyes to sit.

That's a good tip! I will keep that in mind!
