Beauty at the Park (C&C)

I've been pushing my photography to explore new aesthetics. Break away from my tightly controlled nature. I gave up my studio to shoot outdoors and be at the mercy of ambient light.

It was scorchingly sunny today. Hard lights galore!
what could I do?

Lens flare and glorious blur. Who said you had to have your back to the sun?

Not being technical here - I LOVE these to pieces. You've made the most of what you were given and turned difficulties into benefits.
The best part of all these is your subject. She looks relaxed, natural and has the best smile I've seen all week. My compliments to your lovely model.

A couple of cropping issues strike me in 3, 4 and 6. The knees in 3 & 4 and the partial hand in 6.

P.S. I'm hoping for similar challenges soon as we're off to France on vacation and I can't take my studio kit! Also planning some experiments with DoF (and silhouettes) as I haven't ventured there much yet. I won't moan if my results are as good as yours.

She was in her early to mid 50s and was a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera. I found out she was born in Germany so I started giving directions in perfect accentless German. She thought that was so hilarious she started laughing.

Portraiture is all about connecting with your subject.

I like #6 the best, she seems the most comfortable in this one.
The crop at the knees in #3 & #4 it distracts me a little. but the whole set is good overall!
