Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
So i did my first swimsuit shoot! I was very proud of the pictures, but..its time for them to get torn up. I finally learned how to meter properly. I metered for the model and then dropped my background by two stops. Im hoping i didnt make too many mistakes, flickr totally killed the pictures for some reason? They look better uploaded to photobucket!

The smiles! I know they don't necessarily work, but i could NOT get her to do a reasonable "serious" face.
Also she asked for the scar to stay there, so i didn't clone it out.

Anywho, here's my favorite four:

They all look pretty good, picked a good time of day to shoot, light balance is ok, beautiful smile, attractive girl, but buy the girl some food. my arms are bigger than her thighs.

#1 and #3 I like, #3 especially. #2 and #4 the sun was down a bit much, and she seems a tad "blown out"

The smile, well in my eyes, it comes across as more than a little pasty. However that was completely beyond your control. It's also why I adhere strictly to a no people policy.

Also had you not mentioned the scar I would have never noticed it (what she's pretty). I must agree with "imagemaker" on one point, get that girl a cheeseburger.

Nice shots, the scar on the face isn't too bad, as someone previously mentioned it's not very noticeable. The scar on the arm is pretty rough but I would imagine she is ok with it and it didn't kill the photos.

what flash did you use? just curious. I like the photos, I think they look great by the way :)

I think the white balance is a tad off... Possibly bring the background up a stop or two and throw a 1/2 or 1/4 CTO gel on your flash. This will help her to blend (colorwise) with the background, and she won't look so "lit".

I used an alienbee 800 with a 64" shoot through plm. Thanks everyone, I think I'm definitely improving!

The smile is OK in #2. This is the best shot.
I am not sure why she is taking her bikini bottom off in the first shot ... does not seem right.
The background seems too dark ... would have been better earlier in the day.

Nice images. The only comment I would make and it probably applies only to the first one and maybe the second one - make sure that your background does not detract from the main subject of your image, in this case a very attractive young woman - in the first one, my eyes went to the sun, no really they did, at first and then to the main subject and in the second one, the palms in silhouette in the background are a bit distracting. One piece of advice an old pro gave me many years ago was to watch the edges, meaning to watch the edges of your image to make sure that nothing creaps in that detracts from the main subject of your image.

Cheers,

They look good. 2 & 3 look a little cool on the WB but my laptop is not calibrated so take that as you will. The only one I really don't care for is #3 and that is because of the expression on her face. She has "crazy eyes" and I don't like the way her arms are positioned. It's mostly the expression though which is very distracting to the entire photo for me.

#1, #2, and #4 look like her legs have been amputated, because the legs end right at the joint.

If you're going to not include part of a limb in a shot, cut the limb in between joints.

Your light modifier was to short vertically.

Where do you guys find these empty beaches.

My only comment is it LOOKS like the lighting is a bit too direct... like same direction as the camera. I can't be sure, and I'm not great with people and such, but it seems so...

I think you did a good job for your first time!

I think they are a bit underexposed and a kicker/hair light would have been nice.

I just wish i was right by a beach. DAMN.

2 is the only one that seems to have a correct exposure for the model. It might just be me, but they seem a tad underexposed.
