beginner help/troubleshoot with 550d

Hello all, I've just bought a 550d this morning and been reading through the instructions and taking some still images.

I want to be able to shoot some video on it, however when i chose the video shooting option, it says the image should show up live on the LCD, it doesn't , which means i can't do the next step and press the record button, instead i see this screen

Any help and advice would be really grateful for a noob like myself!

(I'm using a SanDisk extreme 30mbs class 10 card, so i don't think its that)

Since when is CA used when shooting a video? CA stands for Creative Auto, not for Camera You need to switch to camera mode.

on my dial, i have it set to the video icon, thats why I'm confused that its coming up on that screen saying CA !

Are you 1000% sure you set it to VIDEO mode? (last one of automatic modes)
If yes, I'd consider the option to take your DSLR back to store, because it HAS to switch to camera mode. I have 500D which is basically the same thing and I don't need to take any other steps. You just use your dial to switch to a video mode, mirror will flip up and you'll see live image on your LCD. Then you press that one button to start recording and it's done.

im 1000% sure, its on the little movie camera icon, but it just won't show anything up, is it something to do with live mode?
