Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
So following on from my introduction. I recently bought a Fujifilm S1600 and I really need to start learning the ins and outs of how to use the manual settings before I head off to backpack around SE Asia in October in order to capture some amazing shots and experiences.

Now I know I have a lot to learn and I'm not going to know it all done before I leave but I just want to get the ball rolling and learning as I keep putting it off with being busy trying to organise my trip.

I have absolutely no idea what to start learning first or where/how to learn.
So if anyone can recommend any good reads/resources (preferably free as my budget is TIGHT) that would be a huge help

Be sure and look at the metering modes and focus modes you have available.

The metering mode you choose to use has a lot of influence on photos when you use manual mode.

Another critical concept that has to be understood to use manual mode effectively is the concept of a 'stop of light'.

A stop is a doubleing, or a halving. Most DSLR cameras are set by default to adjust lens aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in 1/3 stop increments, though they also usually have a menu that allows that to be changed to 1/2 stop or full stop increments.

take a picture post it tell what you did and why and ask what you can do differently
