same where I live. this was a place on the coast, they were a little less shy, but still got lucky, these are crops as well

Fantastic shots! I really love #1, nice detail in that one.

Mathew, these are very nice and that last one "in-flight", is just great.

Hi Matthew , Not much one can complain about here . All have good head angle ,as well as clean Bgs . Really nice set all around . #1 is great, but really appreciate the difficulty factor for the BIF !

Very nice set

You got a LITTLE closer?!?! Are you kiddin' me, Matthew? If that thing was any closer, it'd be sitting in your lap!

Awesome shots! Interestingly, I also got my best-to-date shot of a kingfisher this weekend, but yours blows mine away!

thanks all, I took a trip down to the coast Thursday - Friday. Shot 3:00pm - sunset on Thursday, and Sunrise - 3:00pm on Friday. It was probably one of the best wildlife photography trips I have ever been on. I will post the photos later today.

Awesome Matt! Glad to see someone finally got close to a Kingfisher!

That is close. Great shots.

I will never be able to get the KINGFISHER (also my nemesis) as they know who I am ... they call ahead to the others when they spot me with a camera ... then they fly around at a far enough distance to keep me from taking their picture. They only come close when they know I have left my camera at home (I think they installed spy cameras in my place somewhere).

isn't that the truth, I have seen them perch close to some people, but never happens to me when I have a camera.

I was still really surprised with how much closer these let me get then the ones where I live. the ones where I like you cannot get within 75-100+ feet without them flying off. these don't mind that distance and with the car as a blind, I think we were about 30-feet
