Yes A7 is a very good camera and more importantly its a full frame mirrorless and just for that its already groundbreaking but it does have few things you should remember

Auto Focus system is not as good as a matching DSLR
Very, very poor lens selection
If and when Sony will come out with good fast lenses they will be just as big, heavy and bulky as a full frame DSLR lenses.

Can't you get an adapter to put your DSLR lenses on the A7? But then again, what's the point? Might as well just get a DSLR.

Yes, there are adapters but in most cases you will need to manually focus as they will not auto focus with the adapter.
Canon lenses will auto focus with adapter but I heard they work so slow that you might as well manually focus.
Nope, if you get this camera which as I said has many merits then you should know you are buying a camera system that's (for now anyways) has a very limited lens selection and not the best AF system.

If you're looking for a do-it-all type of camera in a small package for travel ... Don't overlook the Fuji X cameras. The X-T1 is similarly sized as the EM1 and the A7 but uses an APS-C sensor ... so a much larger sensor than MFT and much smaller lenses than FF. (Or, the glass is half empty approach, smaller sensor than FF and bigger lenses than MFT.) I've played with the A7 and A7S and while they are amazing to get a FF in such a small package ... they just didn't seem as solid as the Fuji's or Oly's. Fuji doesn't have as large a system as MFT but it has many more lenses than Sony. The Fuji is mirrorless, so all the pluses of legacy glass and negatives of the AF is unable to track. The Fuji lenses and solid, well built lenses that are, at a minimum, as sharp as my 'L' glass. Fuji has wonderful high ISO capabilities.

If you're in LA, we can meet if you want to try the EM1/XT1/XE2/and maybe I can bring an A7s.

There are so many choices today and choosing between them can be tricky, very tricky.
No system is bad but each has its pro's and con's
Fuji does very solid system for a crop sensor, better lens range then Sony and from what I heard they are very sharp.
I really have no real negative to say about the Fuji X-T1 except reminding its not FF so if you are like me interested in FF sensor goodness then the Fuji ain't for you, if you are ok with crop sensor then they don't get much better then Fuji on this format.
Sony a6000 is very close to the performance on the Fuji X-T1 and main 2 disadvantages between the a6000 and X-T1 is the lack of lenses and design. the X-T1 looks so much cooler but the Sony a6000 has one huge advantage over the X-T1 and that's price, its almost half the asking price and many consider the sensor on the a6000 to be the best crop seneosr in the market. Oh forgot the AF on the a6000 is also better then Fuji's.
As I said so many choices, not easy to choose.

Then there no need to listen to the rubbish about lenses I use the Voigtlander close focus M adapter to use my Leica M fit lenses which makes it very fast to focus and makes the A7 small

I cant believe it but for the first time EVER I agree with my VERY good friend "gsgary", if you MF then the A7 is a good camera, just get a prime lens and get the A7, it has an awesome sensor, got same sensor on my D750, its just an amazing performer!!!
