Best friends during Autumn

​Tried to go for one of those "candid" shots. Unfortunately my strobe was out of batteries.. so all natural lighting for this shoot. Going through the rest of the photos, will post more here soon! This first shot was almost SOOC, aside from some basic adjustments. I did use my shoot through umbrella to catch the harsh light.

I'm liking the colors on this. I think you used a too large aperture though, it seems like the eye furthest from the camera is slightly OOF (on both girls).
Also, the picture might be a bit crooked, but that's a minor thing which can be easily fixed (if it's true, I'm not entirely sure ).

Beautiful colors, I love the light on the girl (frame left) face. I would have had them both facing the sun so the one girl wasn't in shadow. Also, something to think about...why are these teenage girls laying on the ground? I probably would have had them sitting or something more age appropriate. As mentioned, too wide an aperture was used. Can't wait to see more

The tones are really pretty, but you only have one girls face in focus.

Really lovely photos! I love the processing. As others have already pointed out the depth of field is a bit too shallow to get all the good details in focus. I've found that the 50mm gets pretty sharp at f/2.8 and will be able to get a little more into focus.

We use the same camera; if I may suggest, you could look into getting the 85mm f/1.8 lens. Paired with a 5D Classic it is an incredible lens, and I think you will really love what that focal length will bring to your portraits.

+1 I love my 85.... Gets more use than my 50 that's for sure.

If you want a reeaally nice prime lens, get the 135mm f/2. I almost never take it off my camera!
