Best glass to use for night club photography?

What's going on folks? I had a few general questions about types of glass to use for night club photography. The first question is, should I be using a prime lens or should it be a wide zoom lens? I am using a 430 ex flash on my 7D, what type of diffuser should I be using?

Right now, I currently own a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Canon Digital. Is this a wide enough lens for shooting inside night clubs? I am shooting with a Canon EOS 7D, and using a Canon 430 ex II flash unit.

You should use what works for you the best. When you like primes more just use primes other wise use a zoom
When you all ready shoot at night clubs you all ready know if 30mm is width enough for you ?

I few that I know that do this type of photography use the Canon 17-55 on the 7D. This can be an option.

With a crop frame you are going to need a wide angle for sure. I would go with the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 I have used it a lot for indoor photography and it pretty much has the least amount of distortion of any wide angle lens out there. It will give you the best results and the most flexibility for cramped quarters.

+1 on the Tokina. It's an excellent lens.

You are going to want something a lot wider than 30mm on a crop frame.. I imagine a lot of times those clubs are going to be really crowded and you will have limited ability to back up farther -- personally I'd probably go with a fisheye, as I find that the effect really lends itself to party atmospheres.

There is nothing called a best lens for night shots, i know i can use any or different lenses for night shots.

Sorry i mentioned night shots and the OP was asking about night club.

Well, in this case i will say go with fast lenses, i mean something with aperture of 2.8 and wider [2, 1.8, 1.4,...etc].
