Best non-SLR camera with less shutter lag

What is your favorite non-SLR digital camera with as little shutter lag for the 1st shot after switched on, then to take subsequent shots? I'm farily impressed with the photos taken by Sony DSC-F828 with good lighting outdoor. I innitially thought the pictures were taken by a SLR. The owner says the lag is not bad either.

I don't know a lot about 'digi-cams'...but the Canon G series are very highly regarded. The latest is the G10.

mmm...ok. I've heard Canon G series "can't compare" at all to the SLRs. Do you know how quick the Canon G10 is in terms of lag (initial & subsequent shoots)?
