Best point and shoot for under $400?

I haven't purchased a point and shoot in years but my 14 year old cousin wants a more high tech point and shoot then she has now. She likes to photograph anything and everything, and currently has a samsung 630. What would you suggest as an upgrade point and shoot for her? I'm thinking canon? Any suggestions would be great to help my aunt out with a purchase.

I just picked up a Panasonic Lumix LX5. It was on sale for $269 at the time but they are back up to $350 now. f/2 lens. 24mm-90mm zoom. Optical stabilization. Leica lens. Full Manual controls. Shoots in RAW. Its a gift for my mother in law and I looked at the S95 and G12. The G12 was a bit too much. The S95 was nice and small, but I hated the button configuration and the small size for holding. The Lumix, from what I hear, has a nice grip contour and better button set up.Right now though, the S95 is much cheaper at most places.

Digital Depot Online Lumix LX5 is $289 at this site plus %5 off. Its $309 for a white version....but I don't think its worth the extra money just for a different color. use code "5OFFMAP" for extra 5% off.

Here is a comparison of with the S95 and a Nikon. The most important part to this comparison IMO, is the ISO test about midway down. The LX5 seems to have less noise at high ISO and better color through the ISO range. Panasonic LX5 vs Canon S95 vs Nikon P300
