Best way to store lenses, off and on camera?

How should I store my lenses? Rear cap up or down or sideways? When on camera is on its side fine or should rear of the lens be up? Thanks

I don’t worry about which way up as long as the auto focus is off and the zoom is on its shortest setting

Where do you live? In some very humid tropical environments mould can be an issue - if so maybe others can help - I am not an expert.

I use moisture asorbing gel packs when having been out in the cold, to suck up any condensation on the kit when going into a warm house

I use desiccant gel year round because In the warmer months because I sometimes have very high humidity.
