The second one is definitely 'good', not perfect maybe, but much better than many of my shots of captive hawks.
IMO the first isn't as good, but it's still not bad at all!

Agreed. So far I've only captured two pics of hawks in the wild and all the pics except for the 1st pic here have been blown out by the light and totally unmanageable, it just sucks. Then there's the fact that they're always so far away and I can't capture much detail. My day is coming.
