Not sure what in the heck this is; maybe a Townsend's Warbler?

I think the plant may be a catclaw acacia as far as I can tell.

Whatever- Joshua Tree National Park- Great morning to sit on a rock.

Nice Bokeh ... you handled the back lighting well. I would have exposed for the bird's face (maybe a wren ... I think a wabler in the wren family?) and completely blow out the blossoms and much of the background.

I keep going around with the id on this. Probably a house finch (they're very common in the area). The beak is sort of thick and dull for a warbler. My Sibley and NatGeo guides either need bigger illustrations or I need a smaller face.

I don't know how some of the TPF'rs do it. I find shooting birds frustrating.

abraxes,

Your bird is a Verdin. Neat shot of a bird just doing its thing.

All in the same family, wrens, warblers, verdins are all passerines.

I don't think I'll ever get it- Maybe I can try going by taste?
