Black crowned night heron C&C please

Went to a park not to far from work on my lunch break to try out my new D7100 and saw this little guy. Had no clue what he was until I tried to search for it. I believe he is a Black crowned night heron which I had never saw before. Any C&C would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Neal. I think you have some nice shots, but the Heron gets a bit lost in the surroundings. Are you able to crop tighter to make the Heron stand out more?
 
I agree with Jaca. Isolation is best for birds, it gives that extra punch. What lens did you use to shoot this with - I am buying a D7100 very soon, currently have a D90

... What lens did you use to shoot this with - I am buying a D7100 very soon, currently have a D90

The lens is a Tamron 70-300 SP at 300mm.
