Black on one Side of the picture

Hi im new here,

When i take photos of the stars, there is always a black Side in the picture,
I push up the iso to See it better,
Can Someone explan this ?

I have a nz500 samsung 16-55 3.5f

There was no light polution and it is a RAW picture

If you're referring to the dark edges of the image, it's called vignetting. It's caused by the wide-angle lens. Very normal and very common. It can be corrected in post.

I think he's talking about the blacker strip on the right hand side from top to bottom.

My old-geezer eyes don't see anything like that. They just see a gradual darkening closer to the edge.

My old geezer eyes see two horizontal bands, one at the top, one at the bottom of the frame.

So now there are three different perceptions of the same frame. Cool!

Anyone got a fourth one?

The photo is towards the densely populated with stars center of our galaxy.
On the right there are far fewer stars in that part of the sky and so the sky is not as bright there.

The center of the galaxy is about in the tree near and the bottom edge of the photo.
Just to the middle right side of the tree is a reddish area that is the Lagoon Nebula.
Also in the photo are the Sagittarius Star Cloud, M 25, the Omega Nebula, and the Eagle nebula.
On the right there are far fewer stars in that part of the sky and so the sky is not as bright there.


Raw image files can't be posted on the Internet.
The image you posted is a .png file type. Png is not a Raw file type.

I know it is not a Raw image, but i had to make a screenshot of the photo, Thats way it is a .png
but it is not a stack or Photoshop

Post = post processing....... what you do with the image after you take it. Adjust things like brightness, contrast, saturation etc.

The right side is not featureless so we know it's not missing, just less exposure. You didn't include the settings. Could be the camera. I would think vignetting would be all around, not just on one side.
