Late to the party again.... I've had my RS-2 for about three years without any problems. I also use the QR plate from my tripod instead of their attachment bolt.
Have you ever heard of the Cotton Carrier?

Yeah, looked into those briefly... just not sure how quick they would be with wildlife.
