Hey...remember I was talking about applying for that job at a portrait place in a department store, and you said you went there?...well I got a follow up letter along with a link to fill out the rest of the application, in it they asked for a credit report...current within 14 days. They said the reason is because all studio associates are required to carry a company card. Did you get this as well?
Since this job was posted on CL, I'm hesitant to fill it out in case it's a scam.
I remember you said you actually went there...was wondering if you actually went through this whole process.

I'd be going directly to the department store and asking to speak directly with the HR manager.

I'm thinking you've got a scam on your hands.... no reputable department store would be doing recruiting on Craigs List in the first place.

Uh, I've heard of employers doing credit checks on their employees but for a company card? No offense, but if you're a new hire and not on corporate level, I don't think you'll get it anytime soon. Sounds like a scam. Good luck.

um no. It is one thing for the store to actually hire you and to do a background check, that is not abnormal at all, but not some link off craigslist. Odd.
Can you not go to the store and ask them?

It is Olan Mills...it's really bizarre...they have typical ?'s like you would find on any "personality test" that most companies give employees, then it gets to the part where they say in order to even get scheduled for the interview you need to bring a current credit report and that if you need one you can get one free from a website they have a link to...
But since it said you could bring one that is within 14 days, I figured that was legit..because if I bring my own how is that helping them?
I should copy it and post it here...Does anyone at all care to see it?
I will call tomorrow and ask about it, but it really threw me through a loop...I know companies do credit checks on potential employees, but that was odd hearing they won't schedule the interview without it.
