Blue bird

I spotted this bird in my yard and have never seen it before. Does anyone here know what kind it is? It is a heavy crop but I still like the image.

And one more for the heck of it. I was playing with my new macro lens when I got these so I started chasing bees around and it paid off!

He's an Eastern Bluebird. You can tell the difference between the Eastern and Western bluebirds because the Western's red breast wraps round the back of his neck like an apron, whereas the Eastern's red breast stops just under the cheeks.

Beautiful bird and the macro shot of the bee is very nice. In my area there won't be any bee shots for some time yet but with our mild winter they may be early.

my mom is from that area and keeps bees. she said they are starting to come out now so you may be in luck.
