Bluebird and "Rival"

[Dean_Gretsch]

One of the nesting boxes at a local park actually has bluebird tenants instead of tree swallows this year.

1.Mama checking on Nest

The male saw himself in a vehicle's mirror and went to work chasing off the "rival". I was amused as he tried to figure out how the other male was eluding him.

2. Male attacking himself

3. Male on Mirror

Nice set the one with mama checking on the nest makes me think she has young in the nest

Thanks. When they both saw me and the dog, they flew off to draw me away from the box. That's when the male saw it's reflection. This is the second time I have seen a male bluebird checking himself out in a mirror there.

Nice. I have yet to capture a bluebird.
