Boiler Portrait

Being a plumber and Gasfitter who works on these on a regular basis, I really think you could have taken a much different approach to shooting this. The side view is probably the lest interesting portion of the boiler as you leaving aside all the components.
I think you would need a front shot, preferably with a wide angle, to get the brand of boiler with the pipes, pumps and valves to show its lines.
Or simply shoot a section of the boiler to try and show specific lines that they have.

This on the other hand really doesn't work for me. Especially the clutter in the foreground.

All that and you didn't even get a kiss. Don't feel to bad, even though you did not ask for C&C, you sure did get it. Just sit back and look at your photo and think about what artistic value does it have. Now go back to the "boiler' room and see if you can make the boiler look interesting to the eye. If not move on to another subject. Don't waste time beating your self up....move on friend, move on. A little salt will help those wounds heal faster. LOL!
