Did you use a window to light this? What camera mode were you using? Did you intentionally bounce light off of anything? Also could I ask what lens you used?
From what I can tell with the face covered, you utilized your light source really nicely; it's soft and flattering, with no loss of details in the shadows (hence why I asked if you intentionally bounced light off of a surface). The color toning is nice and natural as well and doesn't look over processed, so kudos on that as well. The focus is a bit soft, but that is more an observation rather than a criticism, as it can be seen as either a positive artistic merit or a detriment depending on how you look at it. The same can be said for the grain, which I assume is the result of a high ISO setting, which likely contributes to the softness, but in my opinion is not a negative element to the shot at all.
For a beginner this shot shows a lot of promise if you are pursuing portrait photography. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the tripod. Self portraits aren't easy, but still a great way to learn. I hope to see you posting more in the People Photography section of the forum.
