The Velvet is a perfect lens for flowers. I don’t usually close it down but it can be very sharp as well.

I haven't used it for portraits yet - have only had it a short time - but I will definitely be working on that soon. There is a Lensbaby Unplugged group on Facebook and a Lensbaby group on Flickr where you can see portraits if you're thinking of getting one. I'm not a fan of the ones taken with the Twist but the Velvet and the Sweet are really nice. There's a new Lensbaby called Burnside that has a very nice look for portraits.
