Boudoir-ish (Safe for work)

I like to live dangerously.

Second one you nailed it. First one she looks crazy weirdly contorted to me. Butt push is great, but I think it fails in this case due to being out of frame, so that you can't really TELL whether it is butt push or just pudginess + scoliosis, or something. A wider angle or different POV to make it clear what joints were doing what might have made it work better.

Point well taken... Thanks!

Personally I feel that they are cropped a little too tightly, especially if she plans to get prints. I also think it could benefit from a little bit of sharpening up in post; detail on her face seems a bit too soft. Her tush is also creating a distracting double focal point [not in a good way] and is throwing off the photo's composition to me, especially in the first image. Otherwise I really like the soft lighting and mood of these shots.

Why do you think her tush is creating a double focal point? Is it:

1. The fact that her booty shorts are black?

2. The result of the pose?

3. The result of the close cropping?

4. The DOF is too deep/shallow?

5. None of the above?

How could I have avoided the distraction?

Her butt DOES strongly echo the tone of her hair, and it in a balancing position in the frame with her head -- more or less directly opposed across the center. The effect is lessened if you change the hue and tone of the shorts, at least to my eye.

Got it... I appreciate the observation.

Some girls can pose naturally, and some cannot, but IMO, you should allow the model to "be herself" in as provocative as a pose as she feels comfortable. I doubt if she would have raised up her butt quite like that on her own, so maybe that is when the photographer just watches for the right pose, angle, frame, and light, and just lets the poses evolve as they will. If the model strikes a pose that is good but you're not ready, just ask her to "hold that" while you scramble to get yourself ready.

Also IMO, being more or less fully clothed can be very provocative and sexy. And some of the best pictures (IMO) are with the model posing in classy poses without being raunchy in any way.
