Bought A Kindle!

UPS man brought my new Kindle Paperwhite today............ pretty cool!! I'm really enjoying it. I once said I would never give up my book-in-hand.......... but this thing is slicker than snot! Bought my first e-book, "Canon 5D Mark III Experience - The Still Photography Guide to Operation and Image Creation with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III [Kindle Edition]" by Douglas Klostermann. About 20 pages into it, it's pretty good!!

One can never have enough e-books is my new motto. Perhaps I'll mosey on over and have a look-see. I "will" be looking for something on Lightroom 5 fer sure.

I'm just far too attached to my proper books to ever go to an e-reader as a primary source of reading material. I'll use it in a pinch, but if I have a choice, it will always be a book. It's hard to describe just how happy I feel in a room full of books. I've been like that since I was a kid. I remember being in 1st grade and wanted desperately to have access to the "big kid" bookshelves, but I was relegated to the younger children's bookshelves. I was a very early reader - can't actually remember a time when I couldn't read - and so I'd already read a lot of those children's books and I was bored with them. Then in 2nd grade, I got access to the big shelves a year early, and I was in heaven. Oh, those shelves went all the way up and the smell of the books...bliss!

Plus reading on a screen for too long gives me a headache. :greenpbl:

Oh, I totally understand how you feel.............. I'm married to a walking library!! Same way, maybe even MORE hardcore! Books books books and more books! Never ever without a book in her hands! She's been in education for 40 years now, from teaching to principle to adjunct to teaching now at college level. Her wildest fantasy?! Well, I can't tell you, but it would involve a book!!!

I just meant I'm getting old, it's the 21st century, and I'm going to try everything I can!!!

but I completely agree with Leonore... Books make me happy, paper in my hands and possibly a bit older addition of the book.

My dream is to have my own small library one day, and some time to read...

Well, I can understand that. It's one of the reasons I decided to get a smartphone. Also a reason I'll probably eventually get a DSLR. These things for me, though, could never replace the old things. I still have a rotary dial phone - even a working candlestick phone! - and as long as I can get film and ingredients for my developer, I'll always shoot film. It's not because these things are older-therefore-better. I'm not one to believe that something is better for no other sake than its age (whether that be older or younger, for that matter). I don't want to give those things up because I still get pleasure out of them. If the newer things give me pleasure as well, I'll use them. If they don't? Then I don't need them.
