Bought the D7000... Now What?

You definitely would not regret buying a "nifty fifty,". The low light performance and ultra thin dof is lightyears beyond why your kit lenses can do.Also, don't let price fool you, the f1.8g is BETTER then the 1.4g, because it's a modern redesign with an aspherical element that the 1.4 lacks. The only thing the 1.4 gives you is the ability to shoot some soft photos at f1.4--at f1.8+ the cheaper lens smokes it.

look into the 35mm, 1.8G as well. Quite nice and good DOF.

Actually, with your $400 budget - you can get both Prime lenses:
- I would grab the 35mm, 1.8G (around $199 brand new)
- Also get the 50mm, 1.8G (around $199 brand new)

I have your lenses too - 18-55mm, 55-200mm

I recently sold my 50 f/1.8D but it was a great lens on my D7000. Wow, the price is a no-brainer. IMHO, It is by far the best of these lenses that I've owned; 50 1.8D, 35 1.8G, 18-55 VR, 55-200 VR, 18-105 VR.

If money is not as tight, I'd get a Nikkor 18-200mm and a 50mm 1.8D lens.

I already picked up the 55-200mm... but I can't justify $400 more for a 2 in 1 lens. Even if I have to switch between the 2.

As for everyone else: I am looking at the D series not the G series lenses.
