I have quite a few shots of big cats, and various other big animals, and the key really is to just sit there. Plan on spending hours walking around for the best angles, and shooting your card full.

I would love to do just that. If I didn't have to work, I could easily spend hours every day just exploring.

You can probably find some easier-to-understand guides with diagrams, but I'm glad the post helped you. The main thing is that f/2.8 has the potential to let more light in than an f/4 lens regardless of focal length which means faster shutter speeds. It can also achieve a narrower depth of field given the same focal length, camera, and subject to camera distance.
