I wanted to set a kind of serene and statuesque mood.

The colors weren't so awesome so I think it works as B&W best.

I tried not to overdue the contrast as I wanted it to be more calm than punchy.

You might straighten it so the verticals are plumb.

The shadows are blocked.

It's hard to set a serene and statuesque mood when the image has so many visual elements that convey a sense of mevement, like the strong diagonal of the roadbed, the towering verticals, and the arches.

What method did you use to comvert to B&W?
What kind of UFO's did you capture there in the upper right corner?

No clue on the UFO. I did clone out a couple of minor tree branches that were in the way. It could be that.

I used GIMP and just de-saturated the image.

I will try to level it and re-post.

What do you mean by the shadows being blocked?

I tried to level it but it just did not look better. It would take a severe crop for it to be level.

Tried to straighten the verticals and brightened it up some.
