Nik Silver Efex Pro 2. B&W conversion, heavy red filter, burned shadows
Pre-visualized the shot based on the splayed clouds just after sunrise. Open sky+clouds seemed
near perfect for b&w with a heavy red filter to blacken the sky and emphasize fine detail in the clouds.
The house front was catching diffuse light that heightened contrast with its side. The contrast range offered opportunities to experiment with Silver Efex's tonal adjustments to frame the house
edges against the radiating clouds and expand tonality throughout the image.
I did a first draft in color but never liked any of the results. Believe a monochrome scene was what I imagined when I first saw a potential shot from across the street.

Attempted perspective adjustments but wasn't happy with the new distortions. Framing is unconventional but arguably adds to mood. Vignetting overdone but applied to obscure a messy/busy background.
Open to comments on whether the tonal/contrast adjustments need work and on the overall composition.

Nice shot. I see nothing to criticize or be scathing over. The shot succeeds in making something fairly unremarkable into a very interesting/impactful image. The processing is also top notch.

Thanks. Try to squeeze your way into the NYT site:
Outdoor lighting is jaw-dropping here. That backseat shot...

Good call on B&W, it highlights the tonal range better.

What was your concern? Personally I think the distorted perspective adds drama.

The only other comment, I might be tempted to burn down the trailer on the left side. IMO it's not really adding anything other than a distraction.

Thanks to all!
