Hey guys. I'm going to be going travelling with my d5100 and all the lenses I got to Asia for the first time. I'll be staying there for a while. Anything that I should expect? Any problems bringing them over or bringing back with customs, etc.? Just wanna make sure. Thanks. =)

I don't think you'll have any problems with customs. I would be more worried about TSA/baggage handlers stealing/breaking it. Since you're from Toronto, hopefully you won't have to deal with the TSA at all...

I had zero customs problems traveling to Italy and back however I highly recommend a hard case such as a pelican case to protect your gear while traveling

Depending on your baggage situation and how big your gear bag is I would strongly suggest that your camera equipment be one or both of your carry-ons. I didn't let my camera into the clutches of the baggage handlers. We had no problems with customs when returning from the UK but that was re-entry into the U.S.

Bring receipts if you have them to probe ownership. Some countries can give you a hard time if they think you purchased something in country.

This..

But more than likely you have no problem. Unless you put the cameras and the lenses in the box they came with (look brand new and purchased in the country you were visiting.

to avoid import tax?

I suggest you just carry on your gear, don't check it. I've not had any problems traveling between countries carrying my gear, they never even looked twice.
