Broken Remote Shutter Release Plug

Hey Guys,

While shooting yesterday the plug of my remote shutter release broke in half and now the plug is stuck in the jack. Any ideas on how to get that piece out of there aside from sending it to Canon?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tweezers?

If it's too deep in the socket for tweezers, a tiny bit of super glue on the end of a toothpick (or similar) would probably work (don't use too much, lol).

There is generally a few screws on the black part around the input section. Take those out and a small part of the grip comes off. you should be able to remove it from there.

Find a nerdy friend. Most EE students worth their degree should have a set of precision needle tweezers used to solder those tiny 1/4mm parts onto circuit boards. That may help

This is resolved. I tried to open the camera to see If I could get in behind the jack and somehow push it out that way. I removed about 20 screws and still didn't even get the body casing off. It looked pretty daunting to try to go any further. I put it all back together and took the camera to Canon in Jamesburg, NJ.

I was fully expecting that this would probably cost around 200 dollars to fix and when I arrived I told the guy the truth about what I did exactly. I guess he appreciated that I didn't try to trick him or play dumb, so he sent in to the techs as a warranty repair. It would have cost 225 otherwise. I really didn't expect this as this was not a Canon problem, but a cheap remote release problem. Great customer service.

Anyway, I dropped it off at 11 AM on Wednesday and it was ready at 3 PM same day. They replaced the entire part that has all the jacks.
