Bronze skin effects

How does one give the skin a "bronzish" look as in this picture of the hands in Photoshop. Im pretty sure you have to first desaturate it a little bit then do something.

As well, i've seen a similar effect with the November (i think) winner of the TPF monthly photo contest, where the picture featured the face of a boy.
