Buying a reflector

Reflectors reflect. Even the cheap ones.
True, but they don't all reflect the same. Just because two reflectors look like they have the same white surface does NOT mean that they will reflect the same. One of the things that you are paying for and getting with Lasolite, Photoflex, etc is a higher-quality, longer wearing reflective surface which will NOT reflect unwanted colour casts onto your subject. Quality is worth paying for!

No arguement there. If you're not making money for your photos, I'd find it hard to pass on a $12 5 in 1 reflector from Amazon. It still does a nice job.
 
Go with an inexpensive 5 in 1 type in the 40"-ish size. Be sure to get a reflector arm, a stand and sandbags for it, if you don't already have them available after using what you need for light(s).
