Hey everyone. I'm looking to buy my first filter (67mm) and am not sure exactly where to start. I'm leaning towards a polarizer or UV since that seems convenient for everyday use, but I don't know how I am supposed to distinguish between all of the filters that are available. I want to go with someone like Hoya or Tiffen that has a good reputation, but as far as single coated, multi-coated, linear, circular, or any other decisions like that, I'm totally in the dark. I want quality, but would rather not spend more than $80 or so. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and having the item in stock at B&H or Adorama would be a big plus). Thanks!

multicoated means that it is less likely to add flare and reflections.
If you want a polarizer, you need a circular polarizer...linear is for old school cameras.
UV is good for protection, but that's about it.

I agree. Get a circular polarizer (multi coated if you can afford it).

Other than that, most filters are obsolete in digital photography and post production.
